Removing unwanted hair by laser hair removal in San Diego has plenty of benefits. If you hate shaving, waxing, and tweezing, this procedure helps you achieve smooth skin.

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

This procedure uses highly-concentrated beams of light to target the hair follicles. It is absorbed by the pigments in the follicles which lead to permanent hair removal. This precise targeting leaves the surrounding area undamaged and incurs virtually no pain to patients.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is best for you if you have light skin and dark, coarse hair. It can cause skin discoloration or uneven complexion for patients with darker skin tones. If you want to get rid of unwanted hair on your underarms, bikini line, arms and legs once and for all, this laser procedure is recommended for you. Our Aesthetic Nurses will help you achieve smooth, hair-free skin without the risk of developing ingrown hairs.

Your Laser Hair Removal Consultation

During your consultation, Our Aesthetic Nurses will check your target areas and let you know how to prepare for your treatment. You might need to stop plucking or waxing for several days before you get your laser hair removal treatment. They will also ask you about your existing conditions and medications.

If you have any questions or concerns, this is the best time to discuss them with our Aesthetic Nurses. They will talk you through the process and let you know how many treatments you may need to achieve your goal.

The Procedure

To start with, your hair will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the skin surface. A topical numbing cream will be applied to help with the stinging sensation. You will be wearing eye protection during the procedure.

Next, the laser pulses will be applied to your skin. In some cases, a cold gel or special cooling device is used to help the light penetrate your skin better. After the laser treatment, our Aesthetic Nurses might give you anti-inflammatory creams or ice packs to help with any discomfort. For small areas like the armpit and bikini area, it only takes about 20-30 minutes but for the arms, legs, and back, it could take up to 2 hours.

The Recovery Process

A day or two after your treatment, the target area may look or feel like it has been sunburned. You can apply moisturizers and cool compresses to help with burning or stinging sensations. You can wear makeup the day after your hair removal treatment unless you notice some blisters developing. Other potential complications are redness and swelling but these occur rarely.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?

This treatment is a series of procedures spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart and the total cost will be determined based on the patient’s needs. Our Aesthetic Nurses will tell you the price of each treatment and how many treatments you might need during your initial appointment.
