Reduce the visible signs of aging with fillers in San Diego to get youthful-looking skin without going under the knife. There are plenty of choices when it comes to injectable dermal fillers. Explore the different types of fillers that address your specific skin problems with Dr. Mofid and the SAN DIEGO SKIN™ team.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Fillers are injectable substances that help improve your skin by restoring volume, smoothing out wrinkles and enhancing contours on your face. Hyaluronic acid fillers are among the most popular injectables for skin rejuvenation. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance which plumps and hydrates the skin.

Our Aesthetic Nurses offers these hyaluronic dermal fillers:

● Juvederm (Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Volbella, Vollure, Voluma)

● Restylane (Classic, Kysse, Refyne, Defyne, Contour, Lyft)

● Revanesse Versa

● RHA (2, 3, 4)

Our Aesthetic Nurses also offer Sculptra, a FDA-approved Poly-L-lactic acid facial injection that activates the skin’s natural regenerative process to help replenish lost collagen and restore facial volume.

Each dermal filler addresses different signs of the aging process, such as volume loss, parentheses lines, and thin lips. Different fillers also last for different amounts of time.

Am I a Good Candidate for Fillers?

If you start to notice deepening wrinkles around your eyes, mouth, or forehead, having dermal fillers can soften those creases. You are also a good candidate for injectable dermal fillers if you want to reduce the sunken appearance of your cheeks. You can get dermal fillers to plump your lips as well to get an enhanced pout.

Candidates must be healthy and must have realistic goals. The best candidates are committed to maintaining healthy skin prior to and after the dermal filler treatment.

Your Consultation

Your initial consultation will be the best time to discuss your goals and expectations with our Aesthetic Nurses. Disclose your medical history as well as current medications so they are aware of your health conditions. This is important to avoid any complications, though risks are minimal with dermal fillers.

During your consultation, they will examine your target areas to come up with the right treatment plan for you. The type of filler they will use might also depend on the type of skin problem you want to address. They will recommend the best filler option or combination of treatments based on each client’s unique needs.

You can ask questions throughout the consultation. Our Aesthetic Nurses will talk to you about the treatment process to make sure you fully understand what to expect.

After scheduling your dermal filler treatment session, we will provide preparatory instructions you can follow leading up to the day of your session.

The Procedure

The first step is to get the target area cleaned and sanitized. You might be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area. Then, our Aesthetic Nurses will strategically inject the right volume of dermal fillers under your skin. The target areas may be lightly massaged to even out the dermal filler solution.

The combination of injecting, massaging, and assessing the results will be done throughout the session to maximize the results of the dermal filler treatment.

It usually takes about 15 minutes to about an hour, depending on the target areas. You will be able to observe visible results right after treatment.

The Recovery Process

There is no significant downtime right after your dermal filler procedure. However, it is recommended you stay away from any vigorous activities for a few days. You might be given ice packs to relieve any discomfort from the injections. Bruising and swelling can occur but should disappear in a day or two.

If you have any questions regarding aftercare and when you can fully return to vigorous physical activities without worries, contact us and we will be happy to answer.

If you experience tenderness and hard lumps on the treated areas, these are normal complications. But, if you feel any pain or weakness, contact our San Diego Skin™ team right away.

Cost of Filler Injections

The total cost of fillers varies from one patient to another, as it is an individualized treatment. The overall price will be impacted by the type of dermal filler chosen and the amount used for the treatment. Dr. Mofid will be able to give you the price of your treatment during the initial consultation.
